A Set of Eight Louis Philippe Carved Mahogany Armchairs
Circa 1820-30

Condition
One chair has a patched area on the front of its seat rail and a later seat block on the underside, plus scattered worm holes on the rear seat rail. One chair with a pegged repair which its arm is joined to its backrest. One chair with a small area of lost veneer on its back and a few dark discolorations where veneer chips were overpainted. Otherwise sturdy, usable, attractive condition overall; can be sat on and support weight. Scattered worm holes and old scratch marks / discolorations consistent with age, use and moving. Upholstery is hand-painted velvet of the 20th century. Some worn pile on the velvet and one or two of the chairs with fraying velvet.
